McMaster U receives record $36.5M from McCall MacBain to advance healthspan research

McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, has announced a C$50 million ($36.5M) award from Marcy and John McCall MacBain, through their family foundation, to advance health span research, education, and community impact. The funding will establish the McCall MacBain Kinesiology and Healthspan Institute and four endowed chairs in healthy living, as well as a kinesiology scholarship fund. The award—the largest Canadian higher education award directed to the field of kinesiology—will accelerate interdisciplinary research aimed at extending years lived in good health, strengthen evidence-based policy and practice, and train future health leaders through experiential learning, research placements, and community health programs.
