North Carolina Community College System receives $6M to boost statewide healthcare workforce pipeline

The North Carolina Community College System has announced commitments totaling $6 million from the William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust and AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina to expand NCCC’s student success initiatives and strengthen the state’s healthcare workforce pipeline. The funding includes a $3 million grant to Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh to scale healthcare degree pathways, and $3 million for a pilot program supporting up to 1,000 students pursuing short-term healthcare credentials such as CNA, EMT, and phlebotomy certifications. The initiative provides tuition, stipends, advising, and career coaching aimed at accelerating graduation rates and addressing statewide healthcare worker shortages.
