The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee has announced a $10 million award from alumna Lynde B. Uihlein to support UWM’s School of Freshwater Sciences. The funding will establish permanent support to strengthen research, education, conservation, and policy efforts focused on the Great Lakes region. A portion of the award will help fund the school’s core operations, including faculty advancement, research staffing, laboratories, student scholarships, and community outreach. The funding will also support the Center for Water Policy, advancing interdisciplinary solutions to water challenges, including the operation and maintenance of UWM’s research vessels.
