The University of Vermont has announced a $2 million award from the Argosy Foundation in support of the UVM College of Medicine’s Vermont Center for Cardiovascular and Brain Health in Burlington to advance the prevention of stroke and heart attack related to atrial fibrillation (AFib). The initiative will analyze blood samples to identify inflammatory and metabolic biomarkers linked to stroke and heart attack risk in AFib patients, aiming to build personalized tools to evaluate risk and improve treatment targeting. Expected to run two years, the research project aims to reduce stroke risk and overtreatment through precision care.
