Brown receives $12M from alumnus Orlando Bravo to endow economics and public policy professorships

Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island,  has announced a $12 million gift from alumnus Orlando Bravo through the Bravo Family Foundation to support programs advancing economics and public policy research. The gift will establish two endowed professorships jointly housed in the department of economics and the Watson School of International and Public Affairs, strengthening faculty recruitment and long-term research capacity. The award aims to expand policy-focused scholarship on global economic challenges while enhancing student learning through access to leading scholars. The first appointments will begin with the 2026–27 academic year, focusing on research spanning trade, supply chains, and global markets.
