The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation has announced a $5.4 million grant from Walmart’s Acres for America program to support land conservation projects across California, Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Carolina, Kansas, and Virginia. The grants will permanently protect more than 177,000 acres of wildlife habitat through seven projects, leveraging an additional $135.8 million in matching contributions for a total $141.2 million conservation impact. The initiative, a public-private grant program, focuses on preserving connected ecosystems, expanding public outdoor access, and protecting critical species habitat while advancing long-term landscape-scale conservation nationwide.
