Taylor Rooks $2.1M wipes out medical debt for 1,800 families in Atlanta and Gwinnett County

Sports journalist and broadcaster Taylor Rooks has announced a $2.1 million medical debt relief donation to Undue Medical Debt, to eliminate unpaid healthcare debt for 1,805 households in Atlanta and Gwinnett County, Georgia. The collaboration uses a nonprofit model that purchases bundled medical debt for pennies on the dollar, enabling large-scale cancellation funded by charitable contributions. The elimination of medical debt in economically disadvantaged communities has been shown to improve health outcomes. Eligible recipients are identified based on income or debt thresholds and notified by mail, delivering immediate relief to households facing significant healthcare-related debt across the region without requiring applications.
