V Foundation grants $1M to U Hawaiʻi cancer center for breakthrough mesothelioma research

The V Foundation for Cancer Research has awarded a $1 million translational research grant to the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center in Honolulu to support mesothelioma research The multiyear grant funds investigation into BAP1 Cancer Syndrome, a genetic condition tied to inherited mutations that drive multiple cancer types. The goal is to decode why certain patients show resistance to aggressive tumor spread and survival advantages, with the broader aim of translating those mechanisms into therapies for all cancer patients.
