U Tennessee receives $130M from Dee and Jimmy Haslam for student success and faculty development

The University of Tennessee in Knoxville has announced a $130 million gift from Dee and Jimmy Haslam–owners of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns–to support programming, faculty recruitment, and long-term research initiatives. The largest award in university history includes $100 million for the Haslam College of Business to expand student success initiatives, graduate scholarships, the undergraduate honors program, and recruitment of distinguished faculty. The remaining $30 million will be used to attract top-tier faculty campus-wide. The funding will bolster student retention and graduation efforts while strengthening Tennessee’s research and innovation workforce pipeline.
