Kaelen Sherman commits $17.6M for tuition aid at North America’s largest Jewish high school

Kaelen Sherman, daughter of late philanthropists Honey and Barry Sherman, has awarded C$25 million ($17.6M) to the 1,500-student Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, to expand and sustain tuition assistance for students. The funding establishes a Jewish education fund, named for the billionaire couple who were murdered in 2017. The fund will be managed by UJA-Federation of Toronto within the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto. The largest gift in the school’s history will provide long-term financial support for families to access Jewish education regardless of income amid growing demand for Jewish day-school enrollment.
