University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences receives $7M for healthcare workforce scholarships

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has received $7 million from the Windgate Foundation to expand student financial aid and strengthen the state’s healthcare workforce. The funding includes $2 million for 30 full-tuition scholarships—15 each for students entering in fall 2027 and 2028—across UAMS’s five colleges. The remaining $5 million will establish an endowment for the Chancellor’s Scholars Program, providing full tuition and fees to academically outstanding Arkansas residents pursuing health-profession degrees. The award is designed to reduce financial barriers to medical education and help increase the supply of trained healthcare professionals serving communities across the state.
