Florida’s Tampa General Hospital has announced a $10 million gift from Ian and Jean MacKechnie to expand cancer research and patient care through a new immunotherapy lab as part of the TGH Cancer Institute. The award will fund the development of an 8,000-square-foot research facility and support the construction of the hospital’s new Taneja Surgical, Neuroscience and Transplant Tower. The lab will advance immuno- and cellular therapy research aimed at developing precision-targeted cancer treatments across multiple specialties. The gift also strengthens Tampa General’s partnership with the University of South Florida and builds on the cancer institute’s recently earned FACT accreditation for excellence in stem cell transplant and cellular therapy programs.
