Public-private funders back LAWS domestic violence and sexual assault initiative

LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services in Leesburg, Virginia, has announced more than $9.4 million toward an $11.6 million capital campaign to build a new shelter and community services center for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The funding includes $4 million from Loudoun County, $1.6 million from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, and $3.8 million from community donors. The project will replace a smaller shelter with a survivor-centered facility featuring 20 to 25 private apartment-style units accommodating up to 50 beds. Designed to expand safety, housing stability, and access to support services, the center aims to address rising demand and increasingly complex crisis cases across the region.
