Pershing Square doubles cancer research funding with $9M to 13 researchers across United States

The Pershing Square Foundation’s Sohn Cancer Research Alliance has announced $9 million in grants to 13 early-career cancer researchers, doubling the number of recipients from past years, including Aparna Bhaduri at UCLA in Los Angeles, Livnat Jerby at Stanford University, and Caleb Lareau at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. The national prize program–which has awarded $58 million to 90 projects since 2013–awards $750,000 grants to scientists pursuing high-risk cancer research spanning CAR-T therapies, AI-designed drugs, tumor biology, and chemotherapy toxicity reduction. Newly expanded beyond the New York region, the initiative aims to accelerate breakthrough treatments by backing bold research traditional funding sources often hesitate to support early.
