$4.2M to Virginia Tech bolsters effort to expand advanced manufacturing, innovation, and jobs

Virginia Tech, in partnership with GO Virginia and regional partners, is accelerating Southwest and Southern Virginia’s advanced manufacturing future with a $4.2 million grant, matched by $2 million in local support. The initiative focuses on additive manufacturing and advanced materials (AM2), creating innovation studios, workforce pipelines, and industry-certified credentials. AM2 Innovation Fellows and the AM2 Career Network connect students, entrepreneurs, and companies, fast-tracking tech adoption and commercialization. The effort aims to create 100 permanent jobs over the next two years while positioning the region as a national hub for cutting-edge manufacturing.
