John Brown University receives Walton family $34.5M for advanced healthcare training

John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, has announced a $34.5 million gift commitment from the Walton Family Foundation to launch physician assistant and three nurse practitioner programs. JBU will use the multiyear commitment to expand its Health & Technology Center, recruit faculty, pursue accreditation and establish faculty and scholarship endowments. The programs target Arkansas’s shortage of healthcare professionals serving primary, maternal, and behavioral health needs. Family nurse practitioner and nurse-midwifery programs are expected to launch in 2028, psychiatric-mental health in 2029, and a physician assistant program in 2030.
