Chicago’s National Museum of Mexican Art receives $1M from Bayless Family for west wing arts hub expansion

The National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, IL, received a $1 million lead gift from the Bayless Family Foundation to transform its West Wing into the Foro de Artes Bayless, a professional performing arts venue. Part of a $5 million renovation set for 2026–2028, the project will modernize stages, seating, AV systems, and backstage support, boosting access for local and emerging Mexican artists while enhancing audience experience. The Bayless family, including James Beard Award-winning chef Rick Bayless, has long supported NMMA through donations, board service, and collaborations. The renovation aims to expand community engagement and elevate Mexican arts for decades.
