Texas Woman’s University in Denton has announced a $1 million endowment from the JF Maddox Foundation honoring alumna Mabel Scofield Maddox to provide scholarships for future students. Maddox graduated in 1926 from what was then College of Industrial Arts. Funded scholarships will begin in 2027 for students across disciplines, with preference for first-generation students with financial need and those pursuing fields including science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, nursing, and health sciences. The New Mexico-based foundation’s investment will strengthen access to higher education while advancing opportunities aligned with Maddox’s legacy of leadership and civic engagement.
