Cambridge receives $34.5M from Lisa Yang to expand autism research and clinical care

K. Lisa Yang, retired investor and the philanthropist-founder of the Yang Tan Collective, has announced a $34.5 million award to the University of Cambridge to expand autism research and clinical care. The funding includes $28 million to establish an autism research center and $6.5 million for an autism clinical care facility at the university’s children’s hospital, expected to open in 2030. One of the largest gifts for autism research to a UK university, the commitment links Cambridge with Harvard and MIT through YTC to boost translational autism research. The funding will support efforts to improve early diagnosis and intervention, health disparity research, and fellowships for emerging scientists.
