University of North Carolina at Greensboro–formerly known as Woman’s College–has received an estate gift of nearly $14 million from the late Harriet Shain Evenson (‘53) to support the school’s education program and future generations of teachers. The bequest reflects Shain Evenson’s lifelong commitment to public education and her connection to UNC Greensboro. The gift–the largest in school history–will establish a professorship in Artificial Intelligence in Education to be named for her husband, the late Jerome Evenson, and strengthen the couple’s endowed scholarship in education created in 2005. The funding will also support UNC Greensboro’s Jewish Studies programs.
