U Alabama Birmingham receives $10M from Gorrie family for Alzheimer’s research and treatment

The University of Alabama at Birmingham has announced a $10 million gift from long-time UAB supporters Frances and Miller Gorrie to expand Alzheimer’s research, clinical trials, specialist training, patient care, and statewide outreach programs. At the renamed the Frances Gorrie Alzheimer’s Disease Center, UAB plans to increase access to cutting-edge therapies, recruit leading experts through endowed faculty positions, and strengthen the Alabama Memory and Alzheimer’s Network to support patients and caregivers. As demand for dementia services continues to grow nationally, the investment builds on UAB’s leadership in brain health and Alzheimer’s care and research.
