Moore Foundation awards $3M to expand IFT’s global food traceability program

The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has announced a $3 million grant to the Chicago-based Institute of Food Technologists to accelerate the adoption of interoperable food traceability systems across global supply chains. The award will support the development of practical tools and resources, expand implementation of shared traceability standards across multiple food commodities, and strengthen engagement with regulators, industry groups, technology providers, and multilateral organizations. The funding will help launch IFT’s Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability and back the implementation of U.S. food-tracing requirements. The initiative aims to improve transparency, recall readiness, data sharing, and resilience throughout the global food system while advancing traceability practices.
