Melinda French Gates commits $215M to expand women’s health programs worldwide

Melinda French Gates–through Pivotal, her philanthropic organization–has committed $215 million to advance women’s health worldwide. The funding will expand access to contraception, maternal care, and menopause services while strengthening mental-health support within maternal and primary care programs. The funding aims to address longstanding funding gaps in women’s health and attract additional philanthropic and public-sector investment. Key initial awards include $40 million to Co-Impact for maternal and primary-care mental-health programs, particularly in Africa, and $10 million to the Menopause Society to expand clinician education and outreach across underserved U.S. communities. The latest funding brings French Gates’ women’s health giving to more than $600 million in just two years.
