University of New Mexico receives record $30M to reshape student access at business school

The University of New Mexico has announced a $30 million endowment from James and Gail Ellis to the university’s approach to business education and expand student opportunity. The award, the largest in university history, will fund scholarships, emergency aid, internships, global learning, faculty research, and employer partnerships, while the Anderson School of Management will be renamed the Ellis School of Business Leadership. A $5 million challenge fund will also match major donor contributions. The investment aims to broaden career outcomes, strengthen first-generation and diverse students, and elevate UNM’s national business school profile.
