UC San Diego recieves funding from Moore and Keck foundations to boost science research pipeline

UC San Diego has announced that the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has awarded a $2.5 million grant as part of its broader $55 million national Postdoctoral Fellowship Commitment to support early-career researchers. The funding will support 19 UC San Diego postdoctoral scholars working across fields including astronomy, genetics, environmental science, and microbiology, helping sustain high-potential research during a period of tightening federal support. In a separate award, the W. M. Keck Foundation provided $1.4 million in bridge funding to advance early-stage, high-risk scientific projects. Together, the grants aim to prevent promising research from stalling and strengthen the scientific pipeline at UC San Diego.
