UNCF has released a report finding that many historically Black colleges and universities remain structurally undercapitalized, with limited endowment growth and constrained revenue diversification despite strong student outcomes and workforce impact. In response, UNCF is directing grants to pilot HBCU initiatives focused on endowment growth and long-term asset development. The initiative is designed to help participating HBCUs build sustainable financial models over time, with measurable improvements in institutional resilience, capital formation, and fiscal independence across the HBCU sector.
