Sundance Institute awards nearly $2M for independent documentary storytelling projects

The Sundance Institute has announced more than $1.9 million in Documentary Fund grants supporting nonfiction storytellers and projects across 26 countries to advance independent filmmaking and amplify underrepresented voices. The nonprofit, founded by Robert Redford in 1981 and best known for its Sundance Film Festival, will fund development, production, post-production, and audience engagement efforts, supporting 58 projects and five outreach campaigns. The grants include $337,000 awarded through the Stories of Change Content Fund, a partnership with the Skoll Foundation, supporting six social impact projects that address global issues through documentary storytelling.
