LVMH’s Bernard Arnault commits €50M to launch math and science institute at École Polytechnique

LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault, through his family holding company Agache, has committed €50 million ($58 million) to École Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France, to establish the Arnault Institute for Mathematics and Fundamental Sciences. Scheduled to open by 2030, the institute will support mathematics, physics, computer science, and interdisciplinary research while serving as an international collaboration hub. The funding from the École Polytechnique alumnus will also launch a mathematical residency program beginning next year, bolstering France’s research competitiveness, attracting global scientific talent, and advancing innovation in strategic fields including artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and cybersecurity.
