Sweden’s EQT Foundation awards grants for critical-mineral scalable climate tech research

EQT Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Swedish climate solutions impact investor, has announced 11 grants totaling €1 million ($1.2 million) to researchers in nine countries developing alternatives to critical minerals used in clean energy technologies. The awards support research on lithium recovery, battery recycling, rare-earth recovery, low-iridium hydrogen production, and earth-abundant materials. Funded institutions include the University of British Columbia, Imperial College London, and the University of California, Riverside. The funding aims to strengthen supply-chain resilience and accelerate scalable climate technologies, moving early-stage scientific breakthroughs to real-world execution.
