Notre Dame receives $35M from Berthiaume family to advance precision medicine initiative

Indiana’s University of Notre Dame has announced a $35 million gift from Douglas and Diana Berthiaume to advance precision medicine research at ND’s Center for Biomedical Discovery. The funding will strengthen the bioengineering and life sciences Initiatives with shared research infrastructure, including cryo-electron microscopy, flow cytometry, and advanced biofabrication technologies. The award includes $5 million in seed funding for multidisciplinary research teams across Notre Dame’s science and engineering schools. The investment aims to accelerate precision medicine research, expand faculty recruitment, and support next-generation health technologies. The Berthiaumes’ daughter is a Notre Dame alumna.
