Minnesota’s Bemidji State University has announced an $8.1 million bequest from alumnus the late R. Allen Sunderman to establish the Sunderman College of Creativity, Enterprise and Place. The estate gift—the largest in BSU history—will endow scholarships, fund technology upgrades, and launch innovation and regional partnership initiatives, including a new Office of Sponsored Programs. Designed to expand access and workforce pathways for rural students, particularly in IT and engineering, the investment strengthens long-term academic capacity and economic development while supporting future graduates through enhanced resources and industry-connected learning.
