Morse family $10M bequest to U Maine Athletics, backs facilities and athlete, coach, and staff recruitment

The University of Maine in Orono has received a $10 million estate gift from the family the late Phillip Morse (’64) to support Maine Athletics facilities maintenance and upgrades, capital projects, and recruitment and retention of student-athletes, coaches, and staff. The award establishes an endowment to benefit the Morse Arena, Alfond Stadium, and Alfond Arena and backs funds for specific programs and initiatives, strengthening program competitiveness and infrastructure ensuring sustained athletics excellence and competitiveness.
