$1M from Dake family and Stewart’s Shops backs Siena student fund for financial needs outside of tuition

Stewart’s Shops–a regional chain of convenience stores and gas stations in upstate New York founded by the Dake family in 1945–has announced a $1 million donation to Siena University in Loudonville, New York, establishing The Stewart’s and Dake Family Opportunity Fund to support student access and success. The funds will be leveraged to remove financial obstacles for students, covering essentials like textbooks, laptops, school supplies, and internship travel costs. The award will strengthen student retention and opportunities by addressing immediate, practical needs that sit outside tuition coverage. The fund will expand access to a full college experience and help prepare students for leadership and community impact.
