The Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, has announced a €2 million ($2.2 million) grant from the Volkswagen Foundation to expand quantum materials research. The grant backs Goethe physicist Olena Fedchenko’s work on electronic structures that have the potential to drive next-generation computing hardware, quantum sensors, control systems, and ultra-efficient solar cells. The investment will boost Goethe University’s long-term footing in experimental physics and help position the city of Frankfurt in the future-tech materials sector.
