The University of California Davis has announced a $75 million gift from Kathy Chiao and Ken Hao to expand clinical care, research, and veterinary education at the UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine. The gift will fund a new small animal hospital–opening in 2030–strengthen translational medicine research linking animal and human health, increase scholarships and fellowships to grow the veterinary workforce, and support compassionate care and student-led clinics for underserved pet owners. The award follows a $120 million gift earlier this year from Sanford and Joan Weill.
