The Golden LEAF Foundation has awarded $4.86M to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, to equip clinical and training labs at the school’s new $96M College of Optometric Medicine, the state’s first public optometry school. The labs will deliver hands-on instruction through simulation and patient care, with early clinical exposure. The investment expands healthcare access in underserved rural communities and strengthens long-term regional health outcomes through the development of practice-ready graduates.
