Damon Runyon awards $4.2M to early-career cancer researchers to accelerate breakthroughs

Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation has awarded $4.2 million in four-year fellowships to 14 early-career cancer researchers pursuing innovative studies in cancer biology, treatment and prevention. Each fellow receives $300,000 in independent research funding. Recipients include Nicholas Aboreden at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, studying gene regulation in pediatric leukemia; Shihui Chen at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California, investigating developmental pathways linked to cancer; and Stephanie A. Gaglione at the J. David Gladstone Institutes in San Francisco, California, identifying new targets for cancer immunotherapies. The fellowships aim to accelerate breakthroughs.
