Greater Milwaukee Foundation awards record $97M across Wisconsin as assets climb to $1.3B

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation awarded $96.9 million in 2025 to nonprofits and community organizations, while raising $84 million in donor contributions, The awards represent an all-time high for the 110-year-old community grantmaker. More than 6,100 grants to over 2,000 community partners included major investments in education, human services, and arts and culture. The milestone also reflects a decade of growth: 2025 total awards were 92% higher than in 2016, while assets increased 57% to $1.33 billion over the same period, and annual grantmaking rose 62%. More than 71% of grant dollars remained in Milwaukee’s four-county region, and 82% stayed within Wisconsin, reinforcing the foundation’s local impact.
