The Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center in Milwaukee has announced a $27 million gift from Tim and Barbara Michels through their family foundation to expand personalized cancer care and accelerate cancer research. The award is the largest personal donation in the cancer center’s history and will support the renamed Michels Center for Cancer Discovery. Funding will help recruit leading precision oncology researchers and clinicians, strengthen research technology infrastructure, train future cancer scientists, and expand access to cancer prevention, early detection, and personalized care in rural and medically underserved Wisconsin communities. The donation was inspired by the family’s experience with pediatric cancer.
