Sprints Foundation awards €1M to Lithuanian investigative journalism fund to boost press freedom

Sprints Foundation, the charitable arm of the London-based investment firm, has awarded €1 million ($1.15 million) to the Lithuanian Investigative Journalism Support and Charity Fund to strengthen independent investigative reporting in the Baltic country. The award boosts the nonprofit fund’s assets to €4.1 million ($4.72 million). The fund is best known for its annual €200,000 ($230,000) Pamatai investigative journalism prize, most recently awarded to the Siena journalism center and Laisvės TV for their collaborative investigative series Sureikšminkim (Lithuanian for “Let’s Emphasize”) that focused on political transparency.
