BASIC Fund receives anonymous $19M to San Francisco Bay Area student scholarship program

The Oakland, California-based BASIC Fund, which provides needs-based PreK–8 scholarships to low-income students across the San Francisco Bay Area, has announced a $19 million gift from an anonymous donor to its foundation, bringing the foundation’s total endowment to $50 million less than 30 months after launch. The funding will strengthen the nonprofit’s long-term sustainability and support future scholarship growth. Since 1998, the fund has awarded more than $200 million in scholarships to over 30,000 area students and currently supports more than 3,000 students at more than 250 schools, helping expand educational access and economic mobility for underserved families.
