Foundation for the Carolinas awarded record $1B in 2025 giving to local and national nonprofits 

Foundation for the Carolinas has announced more than $1 billion in grants to local and national nonprofit organizations. The majority of the awards came from FFTC donor-advised funds (DAFs) and marks the first time the Charlotte, North Carolina-based community foundation has surpassed the billion-dollar threshold. The funding, distributed through more than 17,000 grants from over 3,000 accounts, supported education and youth programs, environmental initiatives, health organizations, arts groups, scholarships, and disaster-relief efforts. Education-related nonprofits received $390 million, while environmental groups received $195 million. The grantmaking reflects the ongoing importance of DAF-related philanthropy and underscores the foundation’s growing reach in an increasingly challenging nonprofit funding environment.
