Triangle Community Foundation in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, has announced the launch of a $10 million impact fund to expand housing affordability across Wake, Durham, Orange, and Chatham counties. The fund is seeded with $1 million and secured more than $7 million in commitments toward its goal, using low-interest loans to support community development financial institutions (CDFIs) and housing projects that create and preserve affordable housing. The initiative will direct repaid capital to sustain long-term investments while targeting modest returns of 1-2%. The fund is designed to complement traditional philanthropy by deploying flexible capital to address housing gaps not fully met by public or private financing.
