SSM Health receives $10M to address housing, food, and access for vulnerable patients in St. Louis

SSM Health, a Catholic, non-profit healthcare system in St. Louis, Missouri, has received $10 million from Carolyn Kindle, owner of Major League Soccer’s St. Louis City SC, to support low-income and economically disadvantaged patients after hospital discharge. The funding will strengthen partnerships between SSM Health and community organizations that provide food, housing, transportation, and other essential services aimed at improving long-term health outcomes. The initiative also expands support for the St. Louis Area Foodbank and medical respite care programs operated by Haven Recovery Homes and LIV Sober Living. By addressing social needs that often drive poor health, the fund seeks to reduce hospital visits and improve community well-being.
