$1M to baseball icon Kirk Gibson’s Parkinson’s wellness center boosts mobility and balance programming

The Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson’s Wellness in Farmington Hills, Michigan–founded by the baseball icon who was diagnosed with the disease in 2015–has received a $1 million gift from the Daniel J. Loepp Family Foundation to expand programs and build a new gym facility supporting Parkinson’s care and rehabilitation. The funding will increase coaching capacity and class offerings at the center, which provides free, evidence-based wellness programming for more than 1,000 people living with Parkinson’s. The award will back a program designed to improve mobility, strength, and balance through specialized exercise.
