UPenn receives $20M from Mondre family to expand financial aid for middle-income students

The University of Pennsylvania has announced a $20 million gift from Silver Lake co-CEO Greg Mondre and his wife, Alexandra, to expand middle-income student financial aid opportunities in Philadelphia. The funding will establish an endowment bolstering Penn’s Quaker Commitment, which made the university effectively tuition-free for families earning up to $200,000 with typical assets. The initiative will improve affordability for more than 1,000 families annually while reinforcing broader access goals. The gift also supports the renamed Mondre Family Student Service Center, which houses financial aid, bursar, registrar, and financial wellness services.
