Seattle nonprofit ArtSmart has announced a $1 million multiyear commitment from Seattle Opera board chair Maryanne Tagney to expand tuition-free music mentorship programs for underserved youth nationwide. The five-year award will support one-to-one music instruction, mentorship, and arts engagement opportunities for thousands of students, many from BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. The funding also provides area students access to Seattle Opera performances and backstage experiences.
