UCSF Hospitals receives $100M commitment from Kathy Chiao and Ken Hao to advance patient care

UC San Francisco has announced a $100 million commitment from longtime supporters Kathy Chiao and Ken Hao to modernize its hospital facilities, expand research, and accelerate medical innovation. The multiyear gift includes $50 million for capital projects for upgrades to the healthcare system’s aging Parnassus Heights campus as well as the expansion of UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland; $40 million for emerging innovation initiatives; and $10 million for the Weill Cancer Hub West–a collaboration with Stanford University. The funding will expand inpatient capacity, strengthen behavioral health services, advance cancer treatment discoveries, and support AI-driven clinical care designed to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare disparities.
