Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, has announced a $10 million award from the Lilly Endowment in support of the school’s Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams to back the launch of Lake Rx, a restoration program targeting more than 100 Kosciusko County lakes. The grant combines an $8 million endowment with $2 million for immediate field projects. The initiative will deploy “prescriptions” for lake health, including land-use practices, in-water ecosystem interventions, and community behavior changes to reduce algae, E. coli risks, and environmental degradation. The goal is to improve public health, expand recreation access, and strengthen the region’s $400 million lake-based economy.
