The African Development Bank Group has approved $48.8 million in financing for a crisis response project in eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The funding, combining loans and grants, will support communities affected by ongoing conflict through the rehabilitation of health centers, schools, vocational training facilities, and water and sanitation systems. The program also includes job training for youth, support for women entrepreneurs, and services for survivors of gender-based violence. Aimed at both immediate humanitarian relief and long-term resilience, the initiative is expected to benefit more than 800,000 people, including displaced populations and host communities across the North and South Kivu regions.
